Information Technology and Communication (ICT) in Human Life: The Integration of The Concept of Duality (Conventional and Islamic) in IT Introductory Courses Syllabus

This study discusses the information technology and ICT in human life as the subject of an introductory course in Information Technology (IT) in Islamic Private Higher Education Institutions (IPTSI) in Malaysia. Courses generally cover aspects of information handling manners, issues related to computer technology and information technology. In particular, this course is to instill manners among students on the control of information technology and computer technology in accordance with the tenets of Islam and trace the development of information technology in human life that has contributed greatly to the success of economic development, education and character formation ummah. Further, this course answered the problem is often dealt with according to Islamic perspective and in accordance with the position of information technology in human life and explain how civilized human life and morals can face the challenges of globalization, industrialization and rapid economic growth. Learning outcomes of the course will expose students to the basic information and computer technology and applications during its use. The objective of this study is to produce an introductory course syllabus IT integrate the concept of duality (conventional and Islamic) .The research dismantling problems such studies; Is Course Learning Outcomes (CLO) for IT introductory course syllabus; and whether duality exists in IT introductory course syllabus. The methodology used was the analysis of the syllabus content, learning outcomes (LO), reference books, as well as previous studies.
